2027 Summer Scouting Report: Kameryn Crawford, edge, USC

· Yahoo Sports

We have noticed in recent days just how important it is to find and/or acquire talented pass rushers. Just in the last 48 hours, we have seen Myles Garrett get traded to the Los Angeles Rams, while Nick Herbig signed a $100 million extension. In the 2027 NFL Draft, teams will have ample shots to try and find talented pieces, and one of those players could be USC's Kameryn Crawford.

Let's talk about it.

  • Height: 6'5"
  • Weight: 265 lbs
  • Recruiting rank: Four-star recruit, no. 12 DL nationally in 2024
  • Hometown: Atlanta, Georgia
  • Games watched: Notre Dame, Oregon, Iowa

Kameryn Crawford projects more as a defensive end in the NFL, as his standout ability on tape is his ability in the run game. He does a solid job setting the edge with his physicality and ability to move his blocker with him when engaged. His plus frame allows him to get his hands on his blocker and drive him back. His feet keep driving no matter what he is attempting to take on.

My issue with Crawford is that, for being an EDGE rusher, where is the production? Two sacks against ranked teams in his collegiate career, and 7.5 in total. He seems to simply disappear when the lights are brightest, which I do not love in the slightest. His first step comes out of quicksand. Knee bend is fine, but would rank toward the bottom of the class. I also have concerns about the motor, too, as when the play runs to the other side, the give-up can be almost immediate at times.
