The Green Bay Packers may avoid Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams when the two long-time rivals meet in Week 5. According to new reporting from Adam Schefter of ESPN and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Williams has a Grade 2 hamstring injury and could miss 3-4 weeks, based on normal recovery timelines of similar injuries, although there is some optimism that he will return to the field sooner rather than later.
The Packers and Bears face off at Lambeau Field on Sunday, Oct. 11, or 14 days from Sunday. Williams was originally hurt on Sunday, Sept. 20 against the Minnesota Vikings. If Williams actually misses three weeks of practice and games, he will not play against the Packers in Week 5. More than likely, Williams would need to return to practice in some capacity during the next two weeks to have a realistic shot at facing the Packers.

The Bears already ruled out Williams for Monday night's showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles. Chicago will start Tyson Bagent if he clears concussion protocol or veteran Case Keenum if Bagent isn't available, but with a backup quarterback under center, the Bears are in danger of a 1-2 start.
Injuries will be in the spotlight in Week 5. It's currently unclear if the Packers will have edge rusher Micah Parsons -- who is eligible to come off the PUP list as soon as Week 5 -- available to play against the Bears. Parsons can start practicing at any point over the next two weeks.
There's an outside chance that both Parsons and Williams could return from injuries for the Week 5 showdown. The more likely scenario is that both players miss the game and neither team is at full strength for the important early season rivalry game.
Last season, Williams led the Bears to comeback wins over the Packers in Week 16 and the NFC Wild Card Round. Both games were at Soldier Field. Keisean Nixon's leaping interception of Williams in the end zone prevented a Bears comeback during a win at Lambeau Field, the Packers' last win of the 2025 season.
