After the sudden blockbuster trade between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Charlotte Hornets, LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards are now playing in the same backcourt. This is a big deal because they were the top players from the 2020 class.

Back in the 2020-21 season, Ball and Edwards were the candidates for Rookie of the Year. Since then, there have been varying levels of success between the two players, which could improve now that they are in the same backcourt.
Kendrick Perkins thinks the LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards backcourt is the NBA's best
From being rivals to being in the same backcourt now, Ball and Edwards seem destined to play alongside each other. They don't play the same position, so they can co-exist on the same roster.
With Chris Finch spearheading the system, he will build plenty of sets that will take advantage of the talent he has in his backcourt. He is not the only excited one because the rest of the league is well aware of this budding duo in Minnesota.

Former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins has been quite vocal about this new duo. He thinks that they are the most talented backcourt in the league, which is a bold statement because these two have not played a single minute together just yet.
"Now all of a sudden you bring back LaMelo, with Anthony Edwards. That is the best backcourt in the NBA. I repeat, that is the best backcourt in the NBA," Perkins said on the Perk Unplugged show about the Timberwolves duo.
While he makes a great point, there are still some people who will hit back. Defense is not the biggest strength for this backcourt, so that will be a point of criticism.
However, it is hard to deny that the talent is there. The Timberwolves are blessed with two guards with star-level talent. If they can put it all together alongside Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert, this Timberwolves team will be trouble in the Playoffs.
