NC State and Virginia's Week 0 matchup, originally scheduled to be held in Brazil, will instead be played in Charlottesville. The Wolfpack announced the move in a statement posted on social media, citing the third-party company facilitating the game's determination that it would be infeasible.
"Following an extensive review with operational partners and international stakeholders, the 2026 NC State at Virginia football game, originally scheduled to be played in Brazil, will be relocated to Charlottesville, Virginia, for this conference matchup," the statement said.
“This change follows communication from Athlete Advantage, which informed the ACC and participating schools that the event could not be conducted."

The game was originally slated for Aug. 29 and was set to be played at Nilton Santos Stadium in Rio De Janeiro. However, it will now be played as a home game for UVA at Scott Stadium.
Per the statement, the schools are working with ESPN and the NCAA to keep the game on the Week 0 slate. If that request is not honored, it would likely be rescheduled for Week 1, as both teams currently have bye weeks to accommodate the travel.
There will still be at least one Week 0 international showdown as TCU and North Carolina are set to face off in Dublin.
