It's expected that the Patriots will be in the market to take a late-round flier on a young quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft to develop. The team released former backup Joshua Dobbs in March and elevated Tommy DeVito as the likely No. 2 veteran option for the 2026 season.

With Drake Maye and DeVito topping the depth chart, New England still needs a No. 3 quarterback to build into a future backup for the team.

Could that player be Daniels?

The former Jayhawk finished his final collegiate season throwing for 2,531 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also rushed for 404 yards and four touchdowns in 2025.

Daniels is a dual-threat option with the ability to make plays with his arm and legs in games. So he'd certainly fit the mold of the kind of quarterback the present-day Patriots are scouting.

The 23-year-old prospect is viewed as a late-round draft pick or an undrafted free agent.
