New York Knicks Player Names Taylor Swift as ‘Fakest’ Celebrity Fan: ‘It’s a Little Performative’

A New York Knicks player has stirred up some bad blood with the Swifties.

Point guards Tyler Kolek and Miles “Deuce” McBride were asked to name the “fakest” celebrity fan during an NBA 2K TikTok livestream on Thursday, November 5, per Page Six.

“Maybe Taylor Swift? I don’t know if I’ve seen her at any other games,” Kolek, 25, said of the 36-year-old, who famously wore a “Stevie Knicks” shirt while sitting with sisters Este and Alana Haim at Game 4 of this year’s NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. “I guess she has a lot going on so she can’t come all the time. But it’s a little performative.”

While agreeing with his teammate, McBride, 26, pointed out that Kolek was risking major backlash from the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer’s fanbase, per the outlet.

“I’m going to get some hate from the Swifties,” Kolek agreed.

He wasn’t wrong.

“Taylor been to more Knicks games than you Tyler,” one fan commented, per Page Six, while another posted a shot of Swift wearing Knicks gear at a game in 2014 alongside a shot of Kolek as a child in the same year.

“He’s just jealous that Taylor Swift got more court time at MSG for her wedding than he’s seen in his entire career,” added another, referencing the singer’s July nuptial celebration with Travis Kelce at the famed venue.

Still others agreed with him, noting that she seemingly supported Kelce’s hometown Cleveland Cavaliers last year.

“Kolek said what half the Garden been thinking,” wrote one. “Bold move with that many Swifties in New York though.”
