Bayern Munich goalkeeper plans falling into place
· Yahoo Sports
Bayern Munich is beginning to plan for a potentially major change in goal, with Manuel Neuer’s future becoming one of the key decisions ahead of next season, per Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg (via @iMiaSanMia).
Neuer is increasingly expected to retire in the summer, although no final decision has been made yet. Whatever happens with the legendary goalkeeper will have a major influence on how Bayern approaches the position.

One thing appears increasingly clear: Bayern Munich sees Jonas Urbig as the goalkeeper it wants to move forward with. Rather than signing another young goalkeeper who could immediately compete with Urbig for the starting role, the club wants an experienced and loyal No. 2 who understands and accepts his role within the squad.
Bayern Munich currently has 7–8 candidates under consideration, but there have been no concrete talks with any of them at this stage. The club’s immediate priority is to first determine the futures of Neuer and Sven Ulreich before deciding whether, and when, to make a move for another goalkeeper.
So, while there is still plenty to be decided, the early picture suggests Bayern Munich is preparing for a post-Neuer era with Urbig as the long-term No. 1, supported by an experienced backup rather than another young goalkeeper fighting for his position.
