OXFORD, Miss. — After Auburn football's latest defeat, head coach Alex Golesh said he saw something he had yet to witness through his first seven games on the Plains.

A lack of finish.
That came as No. 12 Ole Miss saw a narrow lead through two-and-a-half quarters swelling into a 45-15 landslide on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. It was Auburn's most emphatic example of a faltering finish yet, but for its head coach who often preaches process, that was nowhere to be found as the Rebels scored the final 28 points.
"That's as disappointing as anything, and I've got to figure that piece out," Golesh said. "That's the part that's making me sick, is the lack of finish. Obviously the plan is to win; the goal is to win. The lack of finish — and I thought (it was) play-to-play lack of finish, drive-to-drive lack of finish, which is the part I'm most disappointed with."
Both quarterback Byrum Brown and defensive tackle Dallas Walker IV agree with Golesh's perspective postgame, and multiple other Tigers, while not outright agreeing with their head coach, reaffirmed his thoughts.
"We have a fourth quarter period every day at practice, so that's where we try to harp: finishing, finishing, finishing," wide receiver Christian Neptune said. "Honestly, if you have the 'Auburn' across your chest, then that's what you have to do, and it takes a mindset to go and finish."
