Jon Jansen says firing Michigan OC Jason Beck wouldn't be overreaction

Jon Jansen is a Michigan Man through and through. The Wolverines team captain and All-American won a national championship during his time in Ann Arbor, and now, he's back with the program, serving as the host of several U-M podcasts, the Inside Michigan Football radio show, and as the color commentator for the radio broadcasts.

He also is the co-host of the morning show on 97.1 The Ticket in metro Detroit, and he shared on that show that when it comes to the Michigan offense, he's as puzzled as anyone.

In fact, Jansen says it would not be an overreaction if the Wolverines fired offensive coordinator Jason Beck, but given that they didn't after the Indiana game, he doesn't believe that it's going to happen.

Even still, he doesn't understand the method to Beck's madness.

"It would not be an overreaction if this happened," Jansen said. "I think that moment has passed. If you're going to do it, you're going to do it like Oregon did, but you have to be able -- you inherit a certain talent and skill set by your offensive line, by your running backs, by your quarterbacks, and if you refuse to call plays that they are good at, then I don't, I don't know what you're doing. I really don't."

Michigan will have another opportunity to potentially get right offensively when it travels to Rutgers this week to face the Scarlet Knights and the No. 122 defense in the country -- the worst in the Big Ten and the worst that the Wolverines will have faced this season.

Michigan has the No. 130 offense out of 138 teams, the second-worst in the Big Ten, ahead of rival Michigan State.
