‘I done made UGA lose’: Todd Gurley accepts blame for Georgia loss after attending Trump rally
· Yahoo Sports
The Georgia Bulldogs entered Saturday’s game against the Auburn Tigers as the No. 1 team in the country, but they walked away from Sanford Stadium with their first loss of the season. And one of the program’s most famous alums seems to think it might be his fault.
Former Georgia running back Todd Gurley, who traveled with President Donald Trump to a rally in Georgia on Friday, took to social media after the 27-24 loss to suggest that he may have jinxed his alma mater by attending the rally alongside the president.

Gurley Joins Trump
Trump headed to Georgia on Friday to hold a rally at Dalton Municipal Airport in support of Republican Senate nominee Mike Collins and gubernatorial nominee Rick Jackson ahead of the state’s midterm races.
Gurley rode aboard Air Force One with the president for the trip and attended the rally, the latest example of Trump leaning on Georgia football stars to win over voters in the battleground state.
Gurley starred at Georgia from 2012 to 2014 before becoming a first-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams, where he was named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2017.
Georgia Falls to Auburn
Just one day after Gurley’s appearance at the Trump rally, the Bulldogs suffered a devastating loss to one of their biggest rivals.
Georgia jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, but Auburn rattled off 24 unanswered points to take control of the game. The Bulldogs battled back to tie the game at 24 with 2:58 remaining, only for quarterback Gunner Stockton to fumble near midfield on the next possession.
Auburn kicker Alex McPherson then drilled a 34-yard field goal as time expired to hand Georgia the upset loss, snapping Georgia’s nine-game winning streak in the series.
‘I done made UGA lose’
Not long after the game, Gurley weighed in with a post on X as he took the blame for the loss.
“Damn I done made UGA lose” Gurley wrote, seemingly suggesting that his appearance at the rally may have jinxed the team.
Gurley may be onto something. Last month, Mediaite put together a list of athletes who have suffered injuries after meeting with Trump during his second term, dubbing the president “The Commander in Jinx.”
That list included New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, who suffered a season-ending knee injury months after introducing Trump at a rally, as well as several New York Yankees players who met him during a clubhouse visit, including Aaron Judge.
