THE SET-PIECES: Real Madrid 4-1 Sevilla
· Yahoo Sports
Neither side scored from set-piece deliveries in Real Madrid’s 4-1 win over Sevilla at the Bernabeu on Sunday evening—except Kylian Mbappe’s goal from a penalty. Sevilla’s restarts produced two shots worth merely 0.07 npxG to Real Madrid’s almost non-existent figures of 0.03.
Sevilla, behind in game state for every one of them, had six attacking restarts—three free kicks, two corners and a throw into the box. Two ended in a shot, one straight from the delivery and one from the second phase. That added up to 0.07 of their 1.17 npxG. The best of it came on 73 minutes, when Manu Bueno met Gabriel Suazo’s free kick and shot off target, a 0.06 npxG chance. Sevilla put three of the six deliveries into the six-yard box, but Real Madrid won the first contact on three and Thibaut Courtois claimed two.

Five were taken with Madrid already ahead, and Arda Güler took three of them. Their best chance came two minutes after half-time, when Endrick shot off target from Güler’s corner, worth 0.03 npxG and the whole of Madrid’s set-piece total from 1.22 overall. Sevilla won the first contact on two of the seven deliveries, Madrid lost the only aerial duel at the first contact, and Odysseas Vlachodimos dealt with one.
