‘Let’s throw it more’: Joe Burrow sends a message after Bengals loss
· Yahoo Sports
The Cincinnati Bengals couldn’t really get the running game going in their 22-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but star quarterback Joe Burrow doesn’t sound all that worried about the lack of offensive balance. In fact, if the running game isn’t working, he thinks they should just keep passing.
The Bengals managed just 18 rushing yards on 13 designed runs on Sunday afternoon. But instead of forcing the run game, Burrow thinks that they can just rely on what they’re good at.

‘Let’s throw the ball more’
After Sunday’s game, Burrow was asked about the imbalance in the game, given the team’s obvious struggles to run the ball and the 58 passing plays in the game. Burrow had a pretty blunt answer: “Let’s throw the ball more.”
“Because I know we’re great at it,” Burrow said, via a transcript from the team. “Because I know that’s what I do best, and we’re really pass-protecting really well right now. Obviously, we’d like to get more out of the run game, but, you know, I know we’ll make it work.”
Burrow finished the game 39-for-54 in the game for 428 yards, so the Bengals were indeed moving the ball successfully, even with Ja’Marr Chase sidelined for much of the game with a concussion and Tee Higgins missing a big chunk of the second half. The Bengals just couldn’t turn the offense into points.
Burrow’s Interceptions
While the Bengals were mostly successful throwing the ball on Sunday, it is worth noting that Burrow did have two interceptions in the game, including a back-breaking red zone interception as the Bengals were looking to take the lead in the game.
Burrow’s first interception of the game came late in the second quarter when Burrow was hit as he released a third-down pass. The ball sailed and was picked off. The second interception, however, was far worse.

Trailing 16-10 in the fourth quarter, the Bengals found themselves 1st and goal inside the Jacksonville 10-yard line with a chance to take the lead in the game with a touchdown. Unfortunately, Burrow tried to force a late pass to the middle of the field, where it was intercepted.
Burrow also threw another interception in the first half, but it was negated by a roughing-the-passer penalty.
