Defensive lineman Aaron Donald, who returned this season after he retired more than two years ago, will be out due to a back injury, reports Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.

What do the injuries to Aaron Donald and Terrance Ferguson mean for the Rams?
Missing key contributors on both sides of the ball will certainly impact the Rams’ game on Sunday.
Not only is Donald missing, but so too is the newly acquired superstar Myles Garrett.
In the absence of two of the best pass rushers in NFL history, Rams stars like Byron Young will have to step up.

Missing Ferguson, though, is a bit of a blow.
The young tight end had been showing signs of growth this season, including nabbing a touchdown catch against the New York Giants.
Granted, Nacua’s return was likely going to impact Ferguson’s targets, but even having him on the field was another factor that defenses would have to consider.
The good news is that while Ferguson will be out for a good chunk of the season, Donald’s injury doesn’t sound too serious.
“He’s as tough as it gets. Just not feeling good enough,” McVay said, as reported by Klein. “He would do it and he could probably go be productive but part of our job is to protect these tough dudes like him from themselves.”
What’s up next for the Rams?
The Rams are off to a slow 1-2 start this season, though one of those losses was highly controversial.
Now, they’re facing another tough team in the Eagles, and while a loss wouldn’t derail the Rams’ Super Bowl aspirations, it would add further concern after a tough start.
Ideally, coming into the playoffs, the Rams will be a healthier and thus, more competitive team. It just might take a few rough weeks to get there.
