Amen Thompson secured his long-term future in Houston by signing a massive five-year, $208 million rookie extension with the Rockets. Complete with a 10% trade kicker, the deal locks in the 23-year-old through 2032 as a clear anchor of the franchise’s core.
The payday follows a 2025–26 season where Thompson emerged as a two-way force. Starting 79 games, he posted career highs across the board, averaging 18.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 53.4% from the floor. And he even earned First Team All-Defensive honors.
Amen Thompson spends extension money on Uber Eats
When you sign a deal worth over $200 million, most people picture diamond watches or custom supercars. Amen Thompson went a much simpler route.
Asked what he actually bought first after locking down his fortune, the Rockets guard admitted he just pulled out his phone and ordered dinner on Uber Eats.
He said: “First thing I bought, I’m a be real, it was probably some Uber Eats. I get Chop Shop, that Chinese, kind of healthy.”
