By the end of the game against Eastern Michigan, however, they were put away as the mood had changed significantly.

Fans were dancing and singing in the rain at Camp Randall Stadium and having a good laugh on social media about the conclusion of the game.

The early part of the first quarter not withstanding, the Badgers dominated on offense, defense and special teams to cruise to a 54-10 victory over the overmatched Eagles in the team's final nonconference game on Sept. 19.

It's what they should do. But too often in recent years, they haven't.

And that's why when Wisconsin's first drive was stopped on downs, Eastern Michigan then went down to take a 7-0 lead, and quarterback Colton Joseph threw an interception on the next drive, it was understanable that the Badgers faithful was feeling uneasy.

But as the rain started falling, the Badgers started pouring in touchdowns.

The Badgers scored 41 straight points from the end of the first quarter to the end of the third quarter. The second quarter was where it all changed. Wisconsin scored touchdowns on all four of their possessions, with the final two coming almost immediately after Badgers interceptions.

Joseph and the Wisconsin's passing offense also found a groove to begin the quarter. Joseph scored a rushing touchdown to cap an 11-play, 74-yard drive that lasted nearly six minutes. And on the next possession, they only needed one play and 10 seconds to score. The offense showed its explosive potential on Joseph's 75-yard bomb to Chris Brooks Jr.

The Badgers didn't let up in the second half, including scoring a defensive touchdown on a scoop and score in the third quarter and then ended the game with a special teams touchdown after Eastern Michigan called a timeout and attempted a field goal as time expired.

But the Badgers played 60 minutes as well. Wisconsin blocked the kick and ran it back for a touchdown.

A rainy day was a happy day for Wisconsin fans on social media.
