Oregon’s offensive line suffered an unfortunate setback Saturday when junior guard Trent Ferguson went down with a knee injury during the Ducks’ 39-31 loss to Oklahoma Stat. On Monday, head coach Dan Lanning confirmed the severity of the injury, announcing that Ferguson will miss the remainder of the season.
Ferguson, a 6-foot-7, 322-pound offensive lineman, made his first career start for Oregon against the Cowboys at left guard. He played 12 snaps in the loss after appearing in all 15 games during his sophomore season. Ferguson redshirted in 2024 after joining the Ducks as a three-star recruit from West Salem High School in Oregon in the 2024 recruiting class.
Oregon could have Douglas Utu available as a potential replacement. The sophomore offensive lineman missed the Oklahoma State game after being unavailable following the opener, but Lanning said he is trending toward returning Friday against Portland State. Utu could potentially step into Ferguson’s spot at left guard.

The Ducks also have uncertainty surrounding tight end Jamari Johnson. Johnson traveled to Stillwater and warmed up but ultimately did not play because of an undisclosed injury suffered against Boise State. He was unable to practice before the Cowboys game, and there is no timetable for his return. Andrew Olesh started at tight end against Oklahoma State and recorded one catch, while freshman Kendre Harrison also played. Clemson transfer Markus Dixon logged one snap.
Defensive back Carl Williams IV is also being evaluated after leaving Saturday’s game following a tackle of Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker near the goal line. His specific injury was not disclosed.
Running back Jordon Davison also did not play late in the loss, but Lanning indicated the sophomore is not expected to miss time.
Oregon, now 1-1, is set to host the Vikings on Friday.
