Paige Bueckers makes WNBA history in 26 minutes during Wings-Storm game

WNBA star Paige Bueckers needed only 26 minutes to make league history.

The Dallas Wings guard exploded for 32 points in Sunday’s 92-70 win over the Seattle Storm. She scored 18 points in the first quarter alone and never needed to return in the fourth.

Bueckers became the first player since the WNBA introduced quarters in 2006 to score 32 or more points without playing in the fourth quarter, including the playoffs. ESPN posted about the historic achievement after the game.

Through 71 career regular-season games, Bueckers averages 19.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game. She also shoots 48.8 percent from the field, 35.5 percent from three-point range and 87.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Dallas selected Bueckers with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. She quickly rewarded the franchise by winning Rookie of the Year and earning an All-WNBA second team honors in her first season.

Bueckers put on a shooting clinic, going 12-of-16 from the field. She connected on all six of her 3-point attempts and also knocked down both of her free throws. Her 6-for-6 performance from deep tied the WNBA record for the most three-pointers made without a miss in a game.

The second-year guard scored 18 of Dallas’ 34 first-quarter points. She matched the Wings’ franchise record for points in a single quarter. Her scoring also helped Dallas build a 17-point lead after the opening period.

The Uconn product added four rebounds, four assists and one steal. She finished with a 75.0 percent shooting percentage from the field.

The Minnesota native entered Sunday averaging 20.6 points and 5.8 assists per game. She also recently passed Skylar Diggins for the most assists in a single season in Wings history.

This performance marked the fifth 30-point game of Bueckers’ career. It also ranked third in Wings history for 30-point outings.

Now, she has added another piece of WNBA history to her resume. And she did it in only three quarters.
