Weekend weather: Cold weather returns to Gauteng with icy mornings forecast

After enjoying relatively mild winter conditions, Gauteng residents should prepare for a noticeable drop in temperatures over the coming week, according to the South Africa Weather Service.

As July draws to a close, colder weather is expected to settle over the province, with daytime temperatures in some areas struggling to climb above the mid-teens.

Pretoria will experience a cool weekend, with Saturday forecast to reach a high of 21°C after a chilly morning low of 5°C. Similar sunny conditions are expected on Sunday, with temperatures again peaking at 21°C.

Johannesburg will be slightly colder than the capital. On Saturday, residents can expect a minimum of 3°C and a maximum of 19°C, making for a particularly cold start to the day.

Sunday’s conditions will remain much the same, with another cold morning followed by cool but sunny afternoon temperatures.

Cold weather conditions to persist in Gauteng next week

The colder conditions are expected to persist into next week, with several parts of Gauteng forecast to experience daytime temperatures in the teens under cloudy and overcast skies.

While no rainfall is currently expected, the cold weather is set to grip the province as July comes to an end.

The South African Weather Service has not issued a cold front warning for parts of the northern regions of the country, however, temperatures in Gauteng and surrounding provinces are expected to plummet in the coming days.
