Cranston Little League softball champs leave for New England regionals

The Cranston Western Little League softball team left Brayton Park Friday morning for Bristol, Connecticut, where they will play in the New England Regional Tournament. A short ceremony was capped by a parade of cars leaving for the 100-plus mile drive to the Little League complex in Connecticut.
The Cranston Western team had to win two games to claim the title against Cumberland, and they did just that on Tuesday, July 14. Cranston won 10-0 in the first game and 6-1 in the second.

The regional tournament opens Saturday, and Cranston Western, which has a first-round bye, will play Sunday at 7 p.m. against either Vermont or New Hampshire.
