Texas Tech adds 4-star defender as Brendan Sorsby dust settles

No football program in the country has been under the spotlight more this offseason than Texas Tech. The Red Raiders have a little bit of closure with the Brendan Sorsby saga and are moving on to build the best roster they can for the future.
The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports that the school has received a 2027 commitment from Hunter Haug, a four-star safety who is playing his high school football for Smithson Valley in-state.

It's be interesting to see how the Red Raiders and head coach Joey McGuire use Haug once he gets to campus after his high school career ends. He posted 57 tackles and two forced fumbles as a defensive back, but has also been a weapon on offense.

Haug recorded 1,156 yards and 16 touchdowns on offense for Smithson Valley in 2025.
