It's no secret that Tarik Skubal is the top name on the trade rumor mill in Major League Baseball.

The back-to-back AL Cy Young Award winner could be dealt to another club at the deadline by the Detroit Tigers, who are having a very disappointing season.

But Skubal is not the only Tigers starter who could be on the move, and the Toronto Blue Jays could show interest, writes ESPN's Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel

That pitcher is right-hander Casey Mize, a former first overall pick who has made just nine starts in 2025 due to injury.

"This is high for a pitcher who twice has landed on the injured list with the same soft-tissue injury (strained groin). It also reflects what Mize did in his previous nine starts: post a 2.27 ERA with peripherals to back it up," Passan and McDaniel wrote about Mize.

"Mize isn't popping any models with his stuff, and his minuscule home run rate is destined to regress, but he strikes guys out and his contract will be barely $2 million for the remainder of the season."

The Blue Jays lost Cody Ponce and Jose Berrios for the year, and Shane Bieber has yet to make his season debut.

Of course, the durability of Max Scherzer is always in question.

Mize would certainly not surpass Dylan Cease, Kevin Gausman, or Trey Yesavage on the depth chart, but he would be an obvious upgrade over Patrick Corbin.

Regardless, Corbin's tenure with the Blue Jays may be over when Bieber returns from the IL.

Mize is a name to keep an eye on for Toronto, especially if the Tigers go in full-on sell mode.
