A 2024 second-round NFL draft pick, Ennis Rakestraw has been limited to just eight career games thus far due to injury.

A hamstring pull early in 2024 limited Rakestraw to eight games and only 46 defensive snaps his rookie season, per Pro Football Focus. Then, Rakestraw was placed on season-ending injured reserve in August of last year.
After a tough first two seasons, Lions head coach Dan Campbell was asked if it's been a matter of bad luck in the health department for Rakestraw and if the franchise has given the Missouri product anything to work on to improve his durability.
"Alright, so before we go, he won't be out there today, alright, but it's not (injury). There's a little big, so he and Rock (Ya-Sin) got a little bit (of a bug).
"He's had a good spring. He's been out there every day, minus this bug that's kind of hit a few of our guys. This year he had a lot of time to really not only rehab, but, man, work back there with coach (Josh) Schuler and Mike Clark when they were here and certainly Fisch. He's added a little bit of bulk. He's a little more dense than he was. That's always going to help the body. But, there's nothing to say, there's nothing that would tell me that he won't be prepared and physically prepared to go into training camp. Now, whatever happens, happens. But, he's where he's supposed to be right now in early June," Campbell said on the final day of OTAs.
If Rakestraw can stay healthy, the 5-foot-11 corner could still carve out a meaningful role in the Lions' defense.
This offseason, Detroit re-signed Rock Ya-Sin and inked Roger McCreary. The Lions also return D.J. Reed and Terrion Arnold at corner.
