2025 NFL re-draft has Dolphins passing on original pick for another DL

After finishing their 2024 season, and third under head coach Mike McDaniel, with an 8-9 record and in second place in the AFC East, the Miami Dolphins landed pick No. 13 in the 2025 NFL draft.

With that selection, the Dolphins added defensive lineman Kenneth Grant to their roster. The Michigan product went on to play 52% of the team's defensive snaps and recorded 33 tackles, five quarterback hits, two sacks and a pass defensed as a rookie.
While that's just the start of Grant's career, Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport suggests that the Dolphins should've gone a different direction with their pick, as he had Miami taking defensive lineman Mason Graham in a recent 2025 re-draft.
"It's no secret that the Dolphins are tearing the team down to the studs. This is a franchise that badly needs as many young, talented players on rookie contracts as they can get," Davenport wrote. "Graham is just that kind of player. And with all due respect to Grant, Graham is on an entirely different level as both a prospect and player."
Graham, 22, who was actually drafted by the Cleveland Browns, wasn't on the board when the Dolphins actually picked, as he was the fifth pick in 2025 after earning All-Big Ten and All-American honors twice at Michigan.
As a rookie, Graham played 72% of Cleveland's defensive snaps and recorded 49 tackles, four quarterback hits, four passes defensed and a half-sack.
It's interesting to imagine what life would be like for the Dolphins if they were able to grab the other Wolverines defensive lineman last year.
