Why did Victor Wembanyama wear robe to Game 6 vs. Thunder?

Victor Wembanyama piqued NBA fans' curiosity with a unique fit before Game 6 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The San Antonio Spurs star rocked a dark green robe with sweatpants and Nike slides, prompting many to think he was paying homage to his time with the Shaolin monks last summer.

It turns out Wembanyama's outfit has nothing to do with the monks. He explained postgame that the robe -- a traditional Islamic garment called a thobe -- was for Eid al-Adha, the Islamic holiday running May 27-30. Wembanyama is not Muslim and doesn't identify with one specific religion, however, according to the French newspaper L'Équipe.

After turning heads with his pregame fit, Wembanyama did the same on the court Thursday night. He tallied 28 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in a 118-91 win. We're now headed toward a Game 7 in OKC, essentially a winner-take-all matchup for the Larry O'Brien Trophy considering how overmatched both teams are compared to the New York Knicks.

Wembanyama has not shied away from the big moments and even bigger shots this playoff run. He also proved more veteran savvy than you'd expect as a 22-year-old by directing his teammates to bring the physicality late in Game 5, setting the tone for a dominant Game 6.

If this brief history is any indication, Wembanyama is bringing his absolute best to Game 7. That'll be pure cinema.
