Kansas City made several notable additions and subtractions this offseason in an effort to retool the roster, but the center of attention continues to surround superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is still rehabbing the torn ACL and LCL he suffered in December of last year.

However, despite being only around six months removed from surgery, Mahomes appears to be progressing rapidly in his recovery and was already back on the field throwing during OTAs this week — something Reid addressed on Thursday.

“I like what I’ve seen. He’s working hard. This is good for him,” Reid said. “You get him out there throwing; it’s rehab… He’s doing partial practice. It’s important. He’s busted his tail to put himself in this position… We’ve got good communication with the doctors. They keep a close eye on him, and we listen to them.”

The exact timeline for Mahomes’ return remains undecided, though the goal is still for him to be ready by Week 1. With roughly three months remaining before the season begins, there are still several boxes left for the superstar quarterback to check during his recovery process.

“Next step will be getting with the team and getting under center,” Mahomes said. “It’s a process, you’ve got to stay a part of it… You have to stay great every day, and if you do that, you get the opportunity to get out there on the field.”
