If the New York Yankees continue to play at the level they have to start the 2026 season, not only is there reason to believe that this team can win the American League, but there's a lot of reason to think they can win a World Series.

The Yankees have done a very good job on both sides of the baseball, but they'll still need some help at the trade deadline.

Just as every contending team has shown over the past few years, adding another arm is never a bad thing, whether that be in the bullpen or rotation. The Yankees have shown their willingness to improve on the mound over the past few trade deadlines, and the expectation is that that will continue this year.

Recently proposing a trade while looking for a way for the Yankees to get better, they were linked to an intriguing reliever who has thrown the baseball at a high level throughout his career.

Yankees Acquire: RP Seranthony Dominguez

White Sox Acquire: RHP Rory Fox, OF Jace Avina

“From the Yankees’ perspective, this is a win-now move for a team sitting 23–11 and in first place in the American League, where the focus shifts from prospect development to strengthening the MLB roster for a playoff run.

“Adding Seranthony Domínguez (3.95 ERA, 17 K, 1.244 WHIP in 13.2 IP over 15 games) gives them immediate bullpen help with swing-and-miss stuff for high-leverage situations, even if he’s not a dominant closer,” Ryan Shea of SI wrote.

Dominguez isn't somebody who is going to wow guys with his stuff more often than not, but he's also been a very solid reliever for contending-caliber teams throughout his career.

It was a bit strange that he ended up with the Chicago White Sox this year, but the White Sox can also view this as a good thing, as they'll now have a player who can be traded for some decent prospects at the deadline.
