Why was Bengaluru denied the right to host IPL 2026 final?
The trouble traces back to the very first game of the season, when RCB hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Ahead of that match, Congress MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar publicly demanded that each sitting MLA be handed a minimum of five IPL tickets.
He suggested that elected officials should not be expected to go through the same process as ordinary ticket buyers. The statement caused immediate backlash.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar attempted to draw a line under it by announcing that three tickets per home RCB match would be allocated to MLAs and MPs for the remainder of the season.
