Tennessee softball outfielder named SEC Player of the Week

Tennessee junior softball player Sophia Knight was named SEC Player of the Week after her performance at the Green and Gold Classic in Birmingham, Alabama, hosted by UAB.

Knight, a center fielder and leadoff hitter for the Lady Vols, went 11-for-13 (.846) in four games at UAB.

She also recorded a .923 slugging percentage and two stolen bases, including stealing home against Mercer. Knight scored seven runs and hit a RBI double in a 4-for-4 performance against Southern Illinois.

This season, she has a .543 batting average, 18 runs, seven walks and 10 stolen bases. Knight has recorded four two-hit games, three three-hit games and one four-hit game in 2026 for the No. 1 ranked Lady Vols.

A Tennessee player has earned a SEC weekly honor for a third consecutive week. Karlyn Pickens and Erin Nuwer were named SEC Pitcher of the Week.

Knight is the first Lady Vol earning SEC Player of the Week honors since Rylie West on Feb. 12, 2024.
