The Minnesota Vikings sit at a pivotal crossroads, and one major roster splash could elevate their offense from stagnant to lethal. Sports analyst Danny Parkins thinks Minnesota general manager Nolan Teasley needs to land Indianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor to maximize quarterback Kyler Murray.
Murray’s initial stretch under head coach Kevin O’Connell has produced mixed results. Over five appearances, Murray completed 83 of 125 passes for a 66.4% completion rate, throwing three touchdowns and two interceptions while adding 132 rushing yards on 25 carries. Veteran tailback Aaron Jones has carried a heavy burden with 436 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 105 carries, but Minnesota lacks a true power hammer behind him.
Parkins noted that Murray played his most efficient football during his Arizona Cardinals tenure alongside James Conner. Conner’s inside-out physicality forced defenses into heavy boxes and gave Murray cleaner passing lanes.

Who should go get Jonathan Taylor? @DannyParkins weighs in:
“The Minnesota Vikings, if they believe in themselves… The thing where Kyler Murray looked most effective, he had James Conner… I think he changes the complexion of Kyler and that whole team.” pic.twitter.com/QxlELdCUoA

Enter Taylor, who remains one of the premier weapons in the league. Through eight games this season, Taylor has logged 587 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 140 carries, adding 17 receptions for 178 yards. The Vikings got a firsthand look at that firepower when Taylor gashed their defense for 95 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 carries at U.S. Bank Stadium.
According to reports from Bleacher Report and The Athletic, Minnesota remains among the front-runners monitoring Taylor’s availability before the trade deadline. The asking price will not come cheap, but pairing Taylor with Murray instantly solves Minnesota’s goal-line struggles and unlocks lethal play-action options.
If Minnesota truly believes in its championship window, securing a blue-chip talent like Taylor provides the exact spark needed to ignite the playbook.
