3 Bold predictions for the Vikings in Week 9 against the Bills

· Yahoo Sports

The Minnesota Vikings have finally lost during the 2026 season. It took seven games, but it finally happened when they went on the road to Detroit to play the Lions.

They do not have time to dwell on it, though, as their insane gauntlet continues as they face the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football in primetime. Josh Allen and the Bills are humming into the game while the Vikings are scrambling for any sort of sanity on offense. Kyler Murray has struggled; the run game is not what it was early on, but the defense remains the best unit in the NFL.

As we dive deeper into looking at the game, we have some bold predictions centered around it to share.

Carson Wentz plays in Week 9

Kyler Murray has played poorly enough this season and has not shown a real grasp of the offense or the players' tendencies within it. Carson Wentz has not been a rockstar, but he has been more than serviceable for the Vikings when he has played. I predict that the first half could be rough for the Vikings' offense, and at halftime Kevin O'Connell tries to give the offense a spark with a quarterback change.

Justin Jefferson finds the endzone twice

Justin Jefferson has started to be a bit more vocal about how he feels about the offense being so quiet. I think they make it a point to get him going early in the game, and then by the end of the night he has two touchdowns. They have to get him involved more; the offense goes as Justin Jefferson goes, after all. If they do not use him more soon, then ideas and outside voices are going to start getting louder.

Vikings pull off the upset

The Vikings are going to be licking their wounds, but the defense is set to make Josh Allen's life not very easy on Monday. I think the defense keeps the Bills' offense in check, and the end result is the Vikings pull off an upset in a low-scoring primetime matchup. Something in the neighborhood of a 17-13 type of game.
