The Chicago Bears clinched a statement win against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football, exploding late in the fourth quarter to win 34-17. The game was supposed to be a test that determined how ready the Bears are to compete, and they passed with flying colours.
This includes their brand new defensive acquisition. Chicago turned heads in the middle of the week when they dealt two first-round picks as part of a package for Jeffery Simmons. He was excellent in his first game as a Bear, and even earned quick compliments from Pat McAfee.
Pat McAfee thinks the Chicago Bears getting Jeffery Simmons has seriously changed the NFL
It was evident to everyone that Chicago had an incredible offence but they needed help on the defensive side of the ball. That is partly what drove the price so high for Simmons when they got him from the Tennessee Titans. In just his first game though, he had five tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack.
It is rare that an impact signing shows it so quickly, and it is a testament to just how great Simmons is. Pat McAfee shared his take about it on social media.
“Sooooo… The Jeffery Simmons trade just completely shifted the entire NFL?!? This dude’s UNBLOCKABLE,” the ESPN man wrote in a post on his personal X account. Considering how Simmons played, it is impossible to dispute McAfee’s assertion.
In just his first game with Chicago, the DT has let everyone know just why he’s considered one of the best. Titans fans have known about Simmons’ excellence for a while, and now the 29-year-old has just put the rest of the league on notice.
