The Los Angeles Rams’ offense couldn’t have started much slower against the Los Angeles Chargers.

For the first time this century, the Rams started a game with five consecutive three-and-outs on offense, according to TruMedia via The Athletic's Nate Aktins.

Here is how those drives went:

  • Interception: 3 plays, 4 yards
  • Punt: 3 plays, minus-3 yards
  • Field goal: 4 plays, 8 yards
  • Punt: 3 plays, minus-3 yards
  • Punt: 3 plays, 8 yards

Together, the five drives covered 14 yards on 16 plays. The Rams’ only points in that stretch came after the Chargers threw an interception, which gave them a short field for the field goal and a 3-0 lead.

Even with the poor showing early, the Rams went into halftime with a 10-9 lead in the Week 8 game after a Kyren Williams touchdown late in the second quarter.

It's still not a good start for the Rams team that desperately needs a win against a winless Chargers team.
