Colts RB Jonathan Taylor is the last longstanding veteran pillar remaining, for now

On Thursday, Indianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor, who’s arguably the franchise’s last longstanding veteran cornerstone still remaining after the recent trades of both Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, indicated that he has not requested a trade from the only organization he’s ever known.

However, he did acknowledge his current uncertain future, which still appears to be very fluid in Indianapolis:
#Colts RB Jonathan Taylor confirmed that he has *NOT* requested a trade, but he acknowledged that he doesn’t have full control of his future.

As a major subject of ongoing trade rumors, Taylor seems proud and comfortable to continue to wear the Horseshoe, and earlier reports indicated that Indianapolis team owner and CEO Carlie Irsay-Gordon potentially considers Taylor a major part of the Colts recently jumpstarted rebuilding efforts.
That being said, Taylor is 27-years-old with 1,691 career carries in the NFL and 926 more collegiately at Wisconsin, at a running back position where players typically don’t age gracefully past the age of 30-years-old.
Either the Colts or an acquiring team are realistically looking at 2-3 prime years left regarding Taylor, and for Indianapolis, that’s likely about the minimum amount of time that it would take to complete a successful rebuild these days—assuming conditions go well with a new quarterback, head coach, and general manager all likely.
However, keeping a future Colts Ring of Honor player and potential Hall of Famer in the building around young players could be a beneficial thing as far as teaching them an elite work ethic, preparation, approach, etc.
It seems to me that the Colts could be persuaded to trade Taylor soon, but it would have to take a significant haul in draft capital from a suitor, presumably the ask right now appears to be at least a first round pick, maybe more.
Whether that asking price will go down, like say a second round pick, as we get closer to this year’s trade deadline on Tuesday, November 10th, remains to be seen. However, for now, Taylor is still remaining in Indianapolis.
