The initiative complemented the nationwide Rail Jan Samvad programme organised by Central and Western Railways at railway stations. MRVC also actively participated in these interactions at stations across the Mumbai suburban network where its infrastructure development and station improvement works are underway.

Addressing the gathering, Wadekar shared insights into MRVC’s ongoing infrastructure projects and future development plans. He encouraged participants to freely exchange views and offer innovative, practical suggestions towards strengthening Mumbai’s suburban railway system.

The wide-ranging discussions covered capacity augmentation, improved rail connectivity, station infrastructure, modern rolling stock, integrated transport and long-term infrastructure planning for the rapidly expanding Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Rail enthusiasts offered suggestions on additional suburban corridors, improved interchange facilities, better utilisation of existing infrastructure, integrated ticketing systems and enhanced commuter convenience. Future connectivity requirements of emerging urban and industrial centres were also discussed.

The interactive session underscored MRVC’s commitment to inclusive, commuter-centric infrastructure planning, recognising that valuable ideas can emerge not only from technical experts but also from passionate railway enthusiasts with a deep understanding of the network.

Suggestions received during the interaction will be examined, while matters pertaining to the respective zonal railways will be forwarded for their consideration.

By bringing railway planners and rail enthusiasts onto a common platform, MRVC reinforced the spirit of Rail Jan Samvad — listening to informed public voices and encouraging collaborative thinking for a safer, more efficient and future-ready Mumbai suburban railway network.
