Lopez was enthusiastic about the season ahead, speaking highly of his team after the Clippers’ season-opening victory over the Sacramento Kings.
The 38-year-old began his 19th season in the NBA with a double-double off the bench in that win over the Kings, recording 17 points with 10 of his 11 rebounds coming on the defense end.
“I was just trying to change the game like I always do,” Lopez said after the season-opener on Oct. 21. “I was excited for the home opener, obviously, with great energy, but we are just trying to take it one game at a time and help my team win.”
Lopez is not the only former Laker to have a productive first half against his former team Friday.
Rui Hachimura added 12 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field. The Lakers and Clippers were tied at 64 after two quarters of play.
