The Indianapolis Colts suffered one of their worst losses in recent memory on Sunday. Indy lost 26-20 against Tennessee, giving their division rival their first win of the 2026 season. The panic level has jumped up a few levels in Indy after losing to one of the NFL’s worst teams in a must-win situation.
Colts head coach Shane Steichenexplained why he doesn’t care about fans booing after Sunday’s disastrous loss.
“We gotta give them something to cheer about. You know? I don’t blame them for booing one freakin’ bit,” Steichen told reporters after the game on Sunday per Ari Meirov.

QB Daniel Jones did not play well against the Titans. He finished 22-of-42 for 269 passing yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Jones also added three carries for 30 rushing yards.
The Colts have been hamstrung for nearly the entire 2026 season. Top receiver Alec Pierce has only played in two games because of heel and ankle injuries. Indy was also without tight end Tyler Warren on Sunday, which spread the offensive talent incredibly thin.
Indy is now in danger of unraveling completely after falling to 2-4 on the season. And the latest reports from one Colts insider make the situation look especially fraught.
The Athletic’s James Boyd warned that job losses for the team brass now seem like an inevitability.
“Worst loss of the Shane Steichen era and one of the worst losses of Chris Ballard’s tenure as well,” Boyd wrote on social media. “Nothing anyone says would be hyperbolic. This team is terrible. Everyone should be embarrassed. Jobs being lost feels like a matter of when not if.”
The Colts need to start stringing some wins together in a hurry. If they cannot stem the bleeding, the entire Steichen era could be coming to an end very soon. Unfortunately, Indy faces another tough task next week.
Next up for the Colts is a road game against the undefeated Vikings in Week 7.
