Pacers waive three players in preparation of start of regular season

The Indiana Pacers waived James Johnson, Keba Keita and Rienk Mast on Saturday. Johnson is expected to re-sign with the team later in the season when his salary requirement will fit under the salary cap. Keita and Mast are expected to play with the Noblesville Boom in the G-League.
Johnson has played with the Pacers the past three seasons, primarily for his veteran presence; he's appeared in 39 games and averaged 1.7 points per game.

Keita, a 6-8, 235-pound center, averaged 4.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in just 6.8 minutes per game in the preseason and Mast, a 6-9, 248-pound center, 5.0 points 3.5 rebounds in 10.7 minutes.
