The Bills then marched down the field themselves and made a field goal to secure a 37-34 victory. Matthew Stafford’s second-half heroics amounted to nothing as the Rams gave away an easily winnable game. Needless to say, head coach Sean McVay was far from happy about the result.
Sean McVay says this is the angriest he has been after a loss in a long time
The Rams have had issues with the special teams time and time again in the recent past. It has cost them games that could have been extremely crucial wins. After a loss like this, it is natural for a head coach to be frustrated with the lack of execution after their team has already done all the hard work.
McVay’s decision to take the field goal in overtime is one that many fans are likely to question. Stafford was on fire in the second half, and had maybe earned some trust from his coach. All things considered, the HC shared his irritation with the media following the loss.
“This is the one, this stings,” McVay said, as shared by ESPN. “It’s going to hurt but we can’t afford to let this team beat us twice. We’re going to have to regroup and reset ourselves. It’s been a while since I have been this p***** after a game too.
“None of it makes me feel good right now. I’m proud of the effort, but none of how I feel is positive. Other than I’m proud of the resilience and the guts that our team displayed. There’s no, I don’t even know what you want to call it… Congrats to the Bills, and I am excited about how we move forward.
Questions will be asked of the HC himself, along with the players after a loss like this. The Rams have now fallen to a 2-3 record, and considering how good the team is supposed to be, many fans and analysts are likely to find that to be unacceptable.
