Barcelona have made an informal enquiry about Galatasaray midfielder Aleksey Batrakov, Barça Universal can exclusively reveal, with the club assessing the 21-year-old ahead of their Champions League meeting with the Turkish side.

However, it is crucial to note that the interest for now remains at a preliminary stage.

Barcelona believe they are already well covered in attacking midfield and have not taken concrete steps towards signing the former Lokomotiv Moscow player.

Batrakov, meanwhile, dreams of representing Barcelona one day and would welcome the opportunity to move to Catalonia in the future.

Whether that ambition can turn into a realistic transfer will depend on how the club’s midfield plans develop.

Barcelona assess Batrakov as Olmo attracts Bayern interest

Batrakov’s name has emerged at a time when Dani Olmo’s future is attracting attention, with Bayern Munich linked with a move for the Spain international.

Olmo remains deeply attached to Barcelona, making a departure unlikely at this stage, although the midfielder wants greater continuity in his playing time as he competes with Fermin Lopez for the No. 10 role.

That situation could become significant for Barcelona’s transfer planning, as managing Olmo, Fermin and Batrakov in the same squad would create a difficult balance, particularly if all three were competing for minutes in the same attacking midfield position.

For now, there is no indication that Barcelona are actively preparing a move for Batrakov, and their enquiry appears to be an opportunity to assess a highly rated player rather than evidence of an imminent transfer.

Batrakov joined Galatasaray from Lokomotiv Moscow earlier this summer for a reported €25 million fee. The 21-year-old has made six appearances for the Turkish club so far, providing two assists.

His arrival at Galatasaray has placed him on Barcelona’s radar, although the Catalan club’s existing options mean any future move would require careful consideration of their squad structure.

The bigger question is whether Barcelona’s interest will develop beyond an informal enquiry.

Olmo’s situation could influence that decision, particularly if Bayern Munich step up their pursuit and the Spain international begins to reconsider his role at the club.
