With the Baltimore Ravens down quarterback Lamar Jackson for their Week 5 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, head coach Jesse Minter needed all his playmakers to step it up. However, veteran tight end Mark Andrews had a few hiccups to start the night, which caught the ire of Ravens fans.

Following a series of mistakes over the past few seasons, fans across the league were quick to criticize Andrews as he struggled on Sunday Night Football against the Falcons.

Ravens Fans Ready for Franchise To Kick TE Mark Andrews to the Curb

Despite being a veteran presence for the Ravens, Andrews had a tough night against the Falcons, catching four of six targets for 28 yards.

Even worse, one catch resulted in a fumble, which the Falcons recovered and returned for the game’s first points.

Ravens podcaster Sarah Ellison couldn’t believe what she was watching from Andrews to start the Sunday night matchup, writing, “Mark Andrews is having a nightmare start. First, he dropped a would-be touchdown, and then he fumbled, which was returned by the Falcons for a touchdown the other way.”

One Ravens fan was done giving Andrews the benefit of the doubt after repeated mistakes, posting, “I have been willing to give Mark Andrews the benefit of the doubt time and time again. I’m done. Exiled. Trade him. Idc. Bye bye.”

Even Hall of Fame TE Shannon Sharpe was confused by the struggles from the veteran, saying, “[Expletive] is going on with Andrews tonight? He’s gotta make the game-winning catch to make up for this.”

ESPN’s Jamison Henley turned to the history books to show just how bad Andrews’ performance on Sunday Night Football was, posting, “Per ESPN Research: Mark Andrews is the first Ravens player with a drop and a lost fumble in the same game since Hollywood Brown in 2021 (Week 17).”

While Andrews has been there for some of the most clutch moments over the course of his nine-year career, he’s also been the reason for some of the Ravens’ most recent losses in the past few.

The Ravens ultimately escaped with an overtime win over the Falcons, thanks in part to Tua Tagovailoa replacing Michael Penix Jr. on the final drive and ending the game with an ugly, game-losing INT, though the criticism kept mounting against Andrews in the aftermath of the primetime win.
