Jamestown topped Watford City 37-28 Friday night. The win puts the Jays at 2-5 overall. The Blue Jays will be back at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium next week hosting Minot North. Kickoff is set for Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.

Jamestown quarterback Brady Nenow delivered at just the right time for the Jays. The senior threw for 185 yards unofficially with three touchdown passes.

Nenow's first passing touchdown capped off a 10 play, 62 yard drive that ended with a 14 yard pass to Kale Verke. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful which put the score at 8-6 Watford City.

The Wolves extended their lead on the next possession with an 80 yard run from Rhylie Ledahl-Berger and with another successful two point conversion attempt, the Jays soon found themselves trailing 16-6 with 7:47 left to play in the first half.

Evidently, that was plenty of time for two touchdowns for the Jays.

Senior Aiden Skari finished off a six play drive with his eighth rushing touchdown of the season to make it 16-12 Wolves. Nenow converted to Eric Van Berkom to pull the Jays within two of the game leaders.

Soon, it would be Watford City trailing.

Brady Anderson made a huge fumble recovery to give Jamestown the ball back with less than three minutes to go in the half.

Nenow let fly an 18 yard pass to Edison Walters to give his team a 22-16 advantage heading into halftime. Walters, a senior receiver for the Jays, has been a prime target for Nenow this season with six touchdown receptions.

Ledahl-Berger went down in the third quarter and did not re-enter the game but Trysten DeVries finished what his teammate started. DeVries ripped off a 26 yard run to finish off the drive and tie the game at 22 points.

DeVries gave his team a 28-22 lead early in the fourth but Jamestown came back with another touchdown strike from Nenow to Walters and a successful two-point conversion to make it 30-28.

On the kickoff Watford City made huge mistake that wound up sealing the deal.

Instead of falling on the live ball, Jonathan Sargent watched as the Blue Jays recovered the ball in the Watford City red zone. While a penalty pushed the Jays back 10 yards to the Wolves 27 yard line, the Blue Jays weren't going to give up an opportunity.

Skari ran the ball in from the 20 and kicker Chase Traut made good on the PAT to ice the game at 37-28.

Watford City put up 370 yards of total offense, all but 62 of which came by way of the triple option offense.

Jamestown had a bit more of a balanced effort on the offensive end of the ball with 153 yard rushing and 185 yards passing. Final individual stats were not immediately available.

In the Class AA West standings, Minot North, Dickinson and Devils Lake are all currently sitting at 2-1. Minot North has defeated both Dickinson and Devils Lake. Watford City, St. Mary's and Jamestown is 1-2 in conference play but with the win over the Wolves, Jamestown holds the tie-break over Watford City.
