According to Matteo Moretto on Radio MARCA, versatile FC Barcelona defender Gerard Martin is set to be the next in line to sign a new contract with the club.
The Blaugrana recently announced the extension of breakthrough starlet Xavi Espart until 2030, while an agreement is already in place to renew the contract of club captain Raphinha.
Marc Bernal, too, is expected to pen an improved contract reflecting his status and prominence in the team.
Gerard Martin is next
Once these renewals are tied up and announced, Barcelona have set their sights on securing the future of Gerard Martin.
Having been promoted to the first team in Hansi Flick’s first season with the club, the 24-year-old defender has established himself as a regular fixture in the starting lineup

Primarily a left-back, the Spaniard transitioned into a left-sided centre-back last season and has forged a reliable partnership with Pau Cubarsi.
While there have been some ups and downs along the journey, Martin enjoys the complete faith and trust of his manager.
As such, Barça are pushing to renew his contract, with his current one set to expire in the summer of 2028.
Martin wants to stay at Barcelona for a long time
Speaking about his renewal and long-term future at the club recently, Martin made it very clear that he wanted to stay put at Barcelona for many more years.

“I’d be delighted to stay here for a few more years. I’ll soon be on my 100th appearance, so hopefully there’ll be another 100. And as many as there are,”he said.
Asked whether he would sign a lifetime contract, Martin had no hesitation, as he stated: “Yes, of course. Well, I’d have to earn it, but yes, yes. Things are going well for now.”
Initial contacts have already taken place between the La Liga champions and the 24-year-old defender’s camp over a new deal.
The idea is for Barcelona to further extend Martin’s contract by two or three more years until the summer of 2030 or 2031.
So far this term, the Spaniard has featured in six of Barcelona’s eight matches in all competitions.
