Miami edge rusher Marquise Lightfoot left the Hurricanes' game Saturday, Oct. 3 with an injury.

In the second quarter against Clemson, ABC sideline reporter Holly Rowe reported Lightfoot and cornerback Ethan O'Connor had gone back to the locker room with injuries. O'Connor later returned, but Lightfoot remained in the locker room when the teams went in for halftime.

Lightfoot has been Miami's biggest pass-rushing threat since Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor left for the NFL. He had two tackles and a sack at Clemson before his injury.

Guard Max Buchanan also went down with a left leg injury, and later in the second quarter, tackle Matthew McCoy went down with an arm injury.

Marquise Lightfoot injury update

It was unclear when Lightfoot was injured, but during the second quarter, ABC's Holly Rowe reported he had gone back to the locker room.

Lightfoot remained out at the start of the third quarter. Defensive tackle Armondo Blount started opposite Damon Wilson II while Ahmad Moten and Justin Scott were in the middle of the defensive line.

Marquise Lightfoot stats

Coming into the Clemson game, Lightfoot led the Hurricanes with 17 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. He also forced a fumble.

Last year, he had 25 tackles (5.5 for loss) and 2.5 sacks working behind Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor. The junior from Chicago is vital to Miami's pass rush.
