Liverpool offered sensational January deal for £34m Barcelona star

Ronald Araujo completed a loan deal to join Liverpool from Barcelona last summer.

The Uruguayan stopper has got a clause attached to his temporary deal - meaning Liverpool can sign him for around £47m at the end of the season.

And if a report in TEAMtalk is to be believed then the Anfield side may be going shopping in Catalunya for one of Araujo’s defensive colleagues.

Alejandro Balde told he can leave Barcelona

Alejandro Balde, 22, has fallen down the pecking order at Camp Nou. The Spain international left-back was safe bet for Hansi Flick last season and can count himself as a three-time La Liga winner.

But the explosive defender is out of favour this term - making only one 12-minute substitute appearance and facing increased competition for his place from Xavi Espert and Joao Cancelo.

Therefore Barcelona are ready to entertain bids for their homegrown prospect - with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly lining up a €40m (£34m) bid.

Liverpool offered deal for Barcelona's Balde

There is interest in Balde from the Premier League too - with the TEAMtalk report putting Manchester United at the top of the queue. Although Balde is only under contract until 2028 it would appear as though Barca are ready to entertain loan bids in January.

And Liverpool are among the teams offered the chance to sign Balde - states the report.

“Balde’s camp and intermediaries are already working hard on options away from Catalunya,” the report reads.

“Liverpool have been offered the opportunity to sign Balde, with intermediaries sounding out potential destinations for the Barcelona defender.”

Balde is also said to be open to the prospect of a move to the Premier League with clubs further down the top-flight hierarchy also eyeing up ambitious moves.

Liverpool need cover and competition at left-back

“Balde is open to the prospect of moving to England, with a number of other Premier League clubs also having been approached about a possible deal. Sunderland, Everton and Fulham have all been spoken to,” the report reads.

Liverpool have been left with only Milos Kerkez and Kostas Tsimikas as their senior left-back options this season.

Andy Robertson departed on a free transfer to Tottenham while the Greece international Tsimikas is only contracted until the end of the current season.

Therefore movement is expected at left-back with Andoni Iraola and new sporting director Julian Ward potentially adding cover and competition for Kerkez.
