Wirtz Form Under Early Pressure
There is no escaping that Wirtz has made a quieter start than many expected. Liverpool invested around £116 million in a player regarded as one of Europe’s outstanding attacking midfielders, and that price tag brings a different level of judgement. His previous output suggested he would adapt quickly, particularly given his ability to operate between the lines, create overloads and deliver decisive moments in the final third.

So far, that rhythm has not fully clicked into place. He has shown flashes, and there is still time for that to develop, but the consistency has not yet matched the billing. For a side under Andoni Iraola and trying to rebuild authority at the top end of the game, that matters. Liverpool need impact from their major signings, especially in advanced positions.
Bayern Munich Interest Makes Sense
From Bayern Munich’s perspective, the logic is obvious. Wirtz remains elite talent, is already established in German football circles, and would represent a marquee addition if circumstances ever changed. Clubs of that stature routinely monitor top-level players even after a deal falls through. That does not mean a transfer is imminent, but it does mean groundwork can be laid long before any formal move develops.

Liverpool Need Patience and Production

From a Liverpool perspective, this report is annoying because it cuts straight to a fear many fans already have. We have seen the talent, we know Wirtz can play, and nobody sensible is writing him off this early. But if you spend £116 million on an attacking midfielder, you expect more than neat touches and occasional glimpses. You expect someone who grabs games and decides them.
That is the source of the irritation. Liverpool have already gone through major change, invested heavily, and asked supporters to trust the rebuild. Fine. But trust works both ways. Fans need to see genuine return on that investment. If Bayern Munich are circling after one difficult spell, then Liverpool must make sure there is no room for that conversation to gather pace.
The biggest issue is that this squad needs leaders in possession, especially in the biggest matches. Wirtz was signed to be that player. Not a luxury, not a project, but a central figure. If he finds form, this all disappears quickly. If he drifts through the season, then supporters will start asking hard questions, not only about him, but about recruitment, structure and whether this team is really moving forward fast enough.
