ProNutro panic: Saffas around the world go hunting for last boxes

South Africans around the world have gone into panic mode over where to find the last few boxes of ProNutro.
The beloved homegrown breakfast cereal has officially been discontinued, as announced in a statement last week.

Since then, a South African food import company has offered to purchase the company from the US corporation, PepsiCo.
PRONUTRO: WHERE TO FIND THE LAST STOCK
On its Facebook page, Biltong & Bangers asked its South African followers around the world to share where they had found their last stock of ProNutro.
The UK-based food company is owned by two expats – Nigel Biffen and Heath Dixon – who shared: “It’s time for a global ProNutro stocktake…How much ProNutro is still out there – and where in the world is it hiding?”
In the comments section, expats around the world shared where they had bought their last boxes of the South African cereal – from Cape Town to the Czech Republic, Maryland in the US to Bristol in the UK, from Germany to Australia and even Saudi Arabia!

Last week, Biltong & Bangers casually appealed to PepsiCo to sell them the ProNutro brand, including its original recipe.
Their cheeky Facebook post read: “OK, PepsiCo — How much do you want? One thing seems pretty clear: there are a LOT of people who aren’t ready to say goodbye to the old ProNutro they know and love. And if you’re not going to make it anymore, perhaps somebody else should….because some South African heritage is too good to let go. ❤️
“So…how much do you want for it? 🧐 We’re talking the ORIGINAL recipe, the relevant IP, production know-how and all the old equipment.
They added: “As for production…we’re pretty sure there are enough clever, capable people in South Africa who could come together and work it out – keeping Pronutro South African, creating jobs.
“So, PepsiCo, consider this our official expression of interest. If you’re ready to sell, get in touch with us”
CEREAL KILLERS – OTHER DISCONTINUED BRANDS
Like ProNutro, South Africans have mourned the end of other beloved South African cereals, including;
Bokomo’s Maltabella, a malted sorghum porridge, was discontinued in 2024 after more than 50 years on the shelves.
Kellogg’s Frosties and Corn Flakes with Honey, which were both discontinued in 2019.
