‘Possible new ransom note’ being investigated in Nancy Guthrie case

The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced the discovery of what could be another ransom note connected to the alleged abduction of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Sheriff Chris Nanos took to X to share the latest in the probe, noting the PCSD and FBI task force “was recently made aware of a new possible ransom note” related to the case.
“Investigators are also aware of social media comments regarding the note and are looking further into the information to determine its credibility,” the statement added.

Other ransom notes
It’s the latest of several alleged ransom notes that have surfaced during the probe into Guthrie’s disappearance, with the first note sent to gossip site TMZ soon after she vanished on Feb. 1.
The sheriff’s department released two notes on July 31 , which Nanos hoped would spark action within the community and help “break” the case.
“We just saw what was being said, and we felt like we needed to put something out that’s really accurate, and this was the time,” Nanos explained in an Aug. 1 video shared on X .
“Investigators felt like there’s a number of pieces of information in these notes that it just might jog someone to say, ‘I’ve heard that,’ or [recognize] the wording, the style of the writing. It might jog somebody to think about who would’ve written this, how was this done?”
Nanos continued: “My investigators, we look at it, and clearly there’s things in there that are very concerning to our investigative team. So we hope that by releasing the actual note we’ll get some response from the community.”

Pleas for Nancy’s return
Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Camron, have made numerous public pleas over the last torturous nearly eight months since their 84-year-old mother went missing from her Tucson, Ariz., home.
A few days before Nanos revealed the two ransom notes, the Today host took to Instagram to beg her mother’s kidnappers to “do the right thing.”
“Our family is in agony; we are in a nightmare that will not end. Nothing about our situation had changed. We have done our part and we will never stop looking for her,” Savannah said.
“We will always ache for her, feel that hole in our hearts. The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place and I know that you have tried to do things the right way, so I’m asking you — begging you — to do the right thing now.”
Guthrie urged the kidnappers to let them know where to locate her mother.
“Make the right choice. Help us find her. Tell us where to look for her,” Savannah implored. “I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end. For all of us — no matter where we’ve been and what we’ve done — I believe there is always a way home. Please make the right choice.”
‘A proper goodbye’
Nancy was last seen on Jan. 31 after loved ones dropped her off at home after a family dinner. She was reported missing the following day when she didn’t show up for a virtual church service.
On the Sept. 15 broadcast of Today , Savannah said she wanted to give her mother “a proper goodbye.”
The longtime journalist noted on the show, per People : “I never let a moment pass, if I get one, to talk about my mom and how much we miss her and love her, my whole family, my sister and my brother and I and all of our extended families, we’re in such pain. We need help.”
She added: “We just want our mom home, give her a proper goodbye. That’s all.”
