Wilson and her teammates will take on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in the first round. While they are the higher seed, though, A’ja has been dealing with some issues lately.
Wilson missed Team USA’s 2026 FIBA World Cup issues due to a lingering back injury. It seems to still be bothering her a bit, but the three-time champion has told fans they shouldn’t worry.

In the world of basketball, one thing is true for both men and women. No team or star is likely ever 100 percent healthy going into the playoffs.
Wilson has more winning experience than most others in history. Thus, it is not surprising that she has asked fans to not worry about her too much.
“It’s not the best at times, but you push through,” A’ja said, as per Kareem Copeland. “This is the time where I can’t really care about much that’s going on, as much as I want to.
“That’s why I try to dedicate as much time off the court as I can to making sure that I’m good at medical tests, making sure that I’m warm and ready.
“But honestly, I don’t think anyone right now is 100%. So I’m like, please don’t feel bad for me. I’ve still got a job to do, and I’m going to show up for my teammates every day.”
Wilson has missed zero games since the league resumed after the FIBA World Cup. Fans will hope that if her 2026 season is to end, it is on the basketball court and not due to further injury issues.
