EAST LANSING — Michigan State will be without running back Cam Edwards for the rest of its Big Ten opener against Nebraska on Saturday, Sept. 26. It may even be without him for longer.

On a 23-yard screen pass with 9:41 to play in the first quarter, Edwards went down clutching his right knee after a tackle by Nebraska's Danny Odem III. After some time in the sideline medical tent, a cart came out to collect Edwards, who held a towel over his head and threw his head back in frustration as it drove him down the tunnel.
Edwards is up to 288 yards on 60 carries this season, the seventh-most of any Big Ten running back. MSU coach Pat Fitzgerald said he could be "one of the best running backs in the country" before the season, and he is a major piece of this Michigan State team.

Michigan State currently leads Nebraska 3-0 after kicker Liam Boyd made a 48-yard field goal to cap the drive Edwards was injured in.
