With matching records of 0-2 coming into the game, something had to give when Plymouth North football hosted Cohasset on Thursday, Sept. 24. Breaking open a game that was tied at the half, Cohasset’s offense took control with 34 points after the break in a 48-21 victory.

The Skippers began to move the football on the ground after two failed drives to open the game. The brother tandem of Michael and James Joyce did the bulk of the work in the run game and Michael Joyce finished the drive with a 6-yard score on the opening play of the second quarter.
Cohasset scored again on its next drive to go up 14-6 with 2:07 left in the half when junior quarterback Jed Seita found a hole in the line for a 5-yard touchdown run.
Thanks to another big play from Thatcher, Plymouth North tied it up one minute later. He received Cohasset’s kick close to his own end zone and zig zagged his way through tacklers all the way down to the Skipper 36. The Eagles capitalized on the opportunity with a 19-yard touchdown catch by Jack Reis. A successful 2-point conversion pass to Owen Perry tied it at the half.
Cohasset took over in the second half, running off 27 consecutive points. Senior wide receiver Graham Simmons played a significant role in the scoring. His 460yard catch set up a short touchdown run by Seita. He then caught an 18-yard touchdown pass to stretch the lead to 27-14 in the middle of the third quarter.
Another Skipper touchdown pass added to the lead and then Seita scampered in from 24 yards out to extend the advantage to 41-14.
Plymouth North’s Anthony MacLean broke the scoring run with a rushing touchdown with 5:00 left in the game.
Cohasset answered back with another Michael Joyce touchdown to make the final tally 48-21.
